We've had a high school student working in the lab over the summer and today was her last day. I'll call her "O" since she's a minor :)
O has been a true pleasure to have around. As I said yesterday, I've been in a bit of a funk lately. This funk hasn't been confined to one aspect of my life, it has infiltrated pretty much everything. O singlehandedly reminded me why I love science. She came in every day (bright-eyed and bushy-tailed) and was truly amazed by what we do in the lab. She wasn't my student, so I was able to soak up her optimism without the stress of having to keep her occupied! O bounced around the lab for 8 weeks (literally) and did a remarkable job of reminding all of us that science is cool, science is fun, and science is our passion. We're all sad to see her go, but I am particularly grateful she bounced into our lives this summer. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and was exactly what I needed to help spark the return of neurosquid!
O: What are we going to do today??
